pumpkinDowntown New London Trick-or-Treaters should watch for the Pumpkin sign when coming out for Halloween this Friday.

You'll know who is giving out candy, and any specific hours. Most merchants are handing out treats from 3:30 to 5:30pm, but naturally, some business' hours vary. We look forward to seeing all the ghouls and goblins and princesses and cowboys and... :-)

Look for the Paint-by-Number Ladies on the corners of Main Street and Central Avenue in New London. The project helped promote New London Fall Ladies Night Out and continues to decorate the downtown.

 

On-going Activities:

Tuesday Table: Every Tuesday 6-6:30pm, this free community meal gives area folks a chance to dine, visit and enjoy and night out. The Link activity's regular schedule is:

  • 1st Tuesday - Our Lady of the Lakes, Spicer
  • 2nd Tuesday - Evangelical Cov.Church, New London
  • 3rd Tuesday - Faith Lutheran Church, Spicer
  • 4th Tuesday - Peace Lutheran Church, New London
  • 5th Tuesday - Hope Presbyterian Church, Spicer

Coffee House Fiddlers Jam Sessions : Every Wednesday, through November, the coffee house fiddlers group will now be meeting at the Little Theatre 9-10am. Everyone is welcome to join in or simply enjoy the music.

Friday Night Soup Night : Enjoy free live music 5:30-7:30pm on Winter Friday nights at Glacial Ridge Winery. Homemade soup is available starting at 5pm. Print the monthly coupon sheet (see Menu at left) for $1 off a glass of wine.

Friday, October 31 ::: Halloween. Watch for the pumpkin sign when Trick-or-Treating with your New London Area Merchants. Most participating businesses will be giving out treats from 3:30 to 5:30pm.

Friday, October 31, 6-9pm::: Halloween Haunt. Grades K-5 come talk with the creatures on the enchanted trail at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center, carve a pumpkin, and decorate a cookie, more. Cost is $8. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Fri.10/31 & Sat.11/1, 7pm; Sun.11/2, 2pm ::: NL-S Production of "Mixed Nuts". What happens when a shy, aspiring writer from the Midwest comes to the Big Apple in search of fame and fortune? For Michael Caldwell, life becomes a series of hilarious encounters with the unpredictable residents of his dilapidated apartment house." Tickets for this New London-Spicer High School show are $5 adults, $4 students at the door of The New London Little Theatre.

Tuesday, November 4, 7am-8pm ::: General Elections . City of New London residents vote at City Hall, 20 1st Ave SW. City of Spicer residents vote at the Dethlefs Senior Center, 217 Hillcrest Ave in Spicer.

Fri.&Sat., November 14& 15 ::: Home for the Holidays . The annual New London kick-off of the Holiday season offers ideas on decorating, dining, fashion and more. Watch for more info, including area newspapers, for scheduled happenings on this popular weekend.

Saturday, November 15, 9am-2pm ::: Living Word Craft Bazaar. Enjoy a variety of crochet goods, rugs, quilts, doll clothes, doilys, homemade soaps, lip balms, hand made cards, baked goodies, lunch, and much more! Living Word Lutheran Church is located on Co.Rd.9 NE near the New London Township Hall. Visit the church website for contact info and directions.

Saturday, November 15, 7pm ::: Lehto and Wright Concert . Enjoy this group's blend of celtic, folks & rock music. Tickets are $10 at the door of The New London Little Theatre.

Saturday, November 22, 7pm ::: Cassie & the Bobs Concert . A return performance of this very popular Patsy Cline show at The New London Little Theatre. Advance tickets available at Mord’s Hardware in New London or Whitney Music in Willmar. Tickets are $15 and did sell out for the previous engagement.

November 26-30 ::: Thanksgiving Break . No school for New London-Spicer students.

Thursday, November 27 ::: Thanksgiving Day. A day to give God thanks for all we have. Many area businesses closed.

Friday, November 28 ::: "Black Friday". The busiest Christmas shopping day of the year. Many merchants offer special pricing.

Saturday, November 29 ::: Small Business Saturday . Support the little guy. Shopping with your local businesses keeps money within your community. "Shop Small".

Dec.4-6, 7pm, & Dec.7 2pm ::: "Believe" Christmas production . Can a teenage Scrooge rediscover the true meaning of Christmas? More info to come on this musical production at the New London Little Theatre.

Saturday, December 6::: St. Nicholas Day . A day to give small gifts and celebrate the actual Saint who inspired tales of Santa Claus.

Saturday, December 13 ::: Candlelight Christmas and Santa Train. The Santa Train is back!! Watch for more details as the date approaches.

Wednesday, December 17 ::: First day of Hanukkah . The Jewish week long Festival of Lights is to thank God for His faithfulness.

December 24-31 ::: Christmas/Winter Break. No school for New London-Spicer students.

Wednesday, December 24 ::: Christmas Eve . Watch for info on area business early closing for the holiday.

Thursday, December 25 ::: Christmas Day . Many area businessed closed to celebrate Christmas.
